The roster turnover has not been substantial, but maybe that’s a desirable outcome after reaching the Western Conference Finals for the second straight season.

Anthony Edwards continues his ascent up the rankings across the entire league. He has yet to win an MVP award, but the first one could be coming soon. If he can reach the next level, than an NBA Championship is not out of the question.

Alongside his incredible play on the court last year was unmatched success behind his Adidas AE1 sneaker. Although the shoe has been displayed in a multitude of colors and silhouettes, there was always going to be a successor.

Next Adidas Anthony Edwards shoe on the way

There was a considerable amount of runway given to the Adidas AE1. That’s not at all surprising considering how impressive the sneaker continued to sell. Now with a new season on the horizon, the next version is coming. Adidas dropped the latest in their litany of elite marketing campaigns for the Minnesota Timberwolves superstar.

“It sound like they ready for the 2” is how the latest Adidas spot ends as Anthony Edwards crosses the threshold. Adidas knew they had an absolute banger with Edwards’ first shoe, and they certainly couldn’t afford to flop with the follow-up.

We now have a live look at the next sneaker in the Anthony Edwards line, and there’s a lot to like about the kicks.

Simplicity was a key element of the AE1. The Adidas shoe features different textures on the midsole and upper, but the vast majority of the canvas was a consistent style. The Adidas AE2 pushes the envelope a bit further. This version extends multiple design elements into the lateral upper.

We should again see multiple different colorways, and it’d be a good bet that a low-cut version will be coming as well. Like the AE1, the AE2 appears to be initially offered in a mid-cut option.

Adidas came out with a winner for Edwards

Multiple different looks at potential AE2 offerings leaked last season. None of the images were confirmed by Adidas, but obviously prototypes are going to run the gambit.

There were some truly awful options, but the bug zapper-looking model had to have been the worst. Thankfully whatever this was ultimately found itself being scrapped.

The final version of the AE2 is infinitely more aesthetically pleasing. Again, Adidas knew they couldn’t miss on the second shoe for Anthony Edwards and it appears they won’t.

A quick Google search does reveal multiple potential colorways for the now-confirmed AE2. If the Minnesota Timberwolves superstar can carry his play to the same or new level, the shoes will once again be like hotcakes flying out of McDonald’s for breakfast.

Anthony Edwards New Shoes Leaked https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/minnesota-timberwolves/minnesota-timberwolves-news/anthony-edwards-new-adidas-ae2-leaked/ Thu, 06 Mar 2025 23:06:02 +0000 https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/?p=61021 The Minnesota Timberwolves drafted Anthony Edwards in 2020 with the hope that he would turn into a superstar. Luckily for the Timberwolves, it happened. Ant has also become one of the most marketable players in sports.

One of the biggest success stories surrounding Edwards, aside from his play on the court, has been his marriage with Adidas. The AE 1 silhouette quickly became one of the best sneakers to hit the market in recent memory. And, with the success that it had, Adidas paid him a lucrative deal to be the face of Adidas Basketball.

The success of the shoe is great news, but it brings the other side of the sword along with it. The good part? The buzz is real, and the foundation is set. The bad news? Expectations for the follow-up are now through the roof, and Adidas has to keep the momentum alive.

Minnesota Timberwolves Anthony Edwards new kicks are sus

The first Anthony Edwards signature sneaker was dubbed “With Love” and showed up in December 2023. The Minnesota Timberwolves superstar has since showcased multiple colorways of the mid-cut silhouette, as well as unveiling a low-top sneaker. The success of the shoe has understandably delayed the next iteration, but a recent leak gives us a look a the next edition.

Obviously the image is a tease and doesn’t showcase the entire product. It is substantially better than the previous leaks that have come out, however, but it’s also not far off from previously underwhelming examples.

Adidas has consistently been looking for their next big thing. Anthony Edwards has proven to be it, and the marketing campaign surrounding the Minnesota Timberwolves superstar has been nothing short of exceptional. That said, they can’t afford to follow up a generational sneaker with a flop.

This season Edwards has taken his game to a new level, as well. After the Timberwolves traded Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks, there was no doubt who’s team it was. Edwards has responded by contributing a career-high 27.5 points per game.

With Towns gone, Edwards has taken aim from beyond the arc. His 40.6% three point rate is a career-best, and he is averaging a career-high 10.2 three-point field goals per game.

There will likely never be a point in which Anthony Edwards is not marketable. That said, Adidas has to continue not to flop on his signature offerings and hope they are as well-received as the first iteration was.

It remains to be seen how this new shoe will be judged by the fans. The release date is vague as later in 2025. Who lines up to snag them will ultimately decide the fate of Adidas’ latest offering.

Images of Anthony Edwards’ New Signature Shoe Leaked https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/minnesota-timberwolves/images-of-anthony-edwards-new-signature-shoe-leaked/ Wed, 17 May 2023 21:18:57 +0000 https://www.minnesotasportsfan.com/?p=42663 Anthony Edwards is the future of the Minnesota Timberwolves. For Adidas, the shoe company he signed with out of college, the plan is the same. Build around Ant.

Anthony Edwards signature AE1’s leaked

And that means getting Edwards his own signature shoe, the “AE1”, which is set to release prior to next basketball season. On Wednesday, though, the first leaked images of Ant’s new sneaker is making rounds on social media.

Leaked photos appear legitimate

These leaked images do appear to be Ant’s new signature shoe. There doesn’t seem to be anyone “in the know” debating that. Early social media reviews have been mixed, and for good reason. These images do not scream “every kid in America is going to need this shoe”.

But those who have inside knowledge of the real sneaker, like shoe market expert @sneakerreporter on Twitter, believe the new AE1’s will be the next big thing in the sneakerhead world. He expects Adidas’ rollout of Ant’s new shoe to be massive.

As mentioned earlier, social media reviews have been mixed…
