The Minnesota Wild were feeling good tonight, entering their 41st game of the season vs the St. Louis Blues. Jake Middleton, who has been one of the best defensemen on the roster all season, returned to the lineup, after missing close to a month with a broken finger.

Minnesota’s defense was far from perfect. Hell, they gave up four goals, at home, and replaced their starting goaltender with five minutes remaining in the 2nd period. But the blue line brought the offense on Tuesday, scoring also added 5 total points (3 goals, 2 assists).

Minnesota Wild lose Brock Faber, maybe Jonas Brodin

So sure, the night was far from perfect, but it ended in yet another win, this time by a score of 6-4. Giving up as many goals as the Minnesota Wild did is not the way they drew up their win tonight. But when Brock Faber exits the game 4.5 minutes in, with an upper body injury, and Zach Bogosian plays 24 minutes in his place, you take a victory however you can get it.

After the game, head coach John Hynes did not give an update on Brock Faber’s injury, which is concerning. The Wild need the 21-yearold former U of M defenseman, especially after Jared Spurgeon was recently placed on injured reserve.

Unfortunately, Brock Faber isn’t the only injury scare the the Minnesota Wild are concerned with, following their 26th win of the season. In the waning seconds of a game that Jonas Brodin was forced to play 33 minutes in, thanks to Faber’s early exit, Brodin blocked a shot that may or may not have made it to net. Afterwards, the 31-year-old Swed was clearly in pain.

While he did remain in the contest, Brodin’s injury situation going into Wednesday is certainly something to monitor. Hockey guys are a different breed, this isn’t one of those “hockey guy” moments where we find out tomorrow that Brodin Sundary the game vs St. Louis with a fractured shin bone or something absurd that will keep him out for any extended period of time. Jonas doesn’t appear worried, though… snf th
