Minnesota Wild Finally Ink Kirill Kaprizov to Long-Term Contract
Minnesota Wild fans started hitting panic buttons last week, when they realized that Kirill Kaprizov was in danger of missing training camp and, maybe, regular season games if he didn’t hurry up and sign the contract that’s reportedly been in front of him for weeks. But, the wait is (kind of) over.
According to Michael Russo (The Athletic), Kaprizov has inked his 5-year, $45 million deal and is starting the process of getting to the United States. The Minnesota Wild official Twitter account teased the signing with a video about 10 minutes before Russo broke it.
Nearly six months after beginning contract negotiations that frequently became contentious and turbulent with long droughts of not talking, the Wild finally inked the reigning Calder Trophy winner to a whopping five-year, $45 million contract just one day before players are to report for training camp.

What’s next?
There are still a lot of questions surrounding the immediate availability of Kirill Kaprizov, even after he arrives in Minnesota. It’s believed that he’ll have to quarantine for seven days upon arrival and that’s even before you get into his vaccination status, which could put him at risk of extra protocols and suspensions if he tests positive. Game one is October 15.
