Do any other Vikings fans feel a little bit lighter? Well, the team’s pocket-book certainly does. The Vikings have officially cut Xavier Rhodes and Linval Joseph from the roster, clearing $18.5 million in cap space. Those numbers include the cap penalty, for cutting them. It looks like they have also released David Morgan.
According to Spotrac, the Vikings now have about $19M in salary cap money, to spend. However, once you add in the draft pool money that will be needed for that part of the offseason, their number goes down to just over $11M.
This is just the beginning. The Minnesota Vikings have a lot more work to do, if they are going to get that number down to an amount that will allow any flexibility this offseason.
