The Jets have claimed Kaare Vedvik, meaning the practice squad won’t be an option for the latest Vikings kicker failure. Don’t pass go. Don’t collect $200. The Vikings might as well head straight to the TCO Press Room and take their beating now. There’s no point in trying to fight the media, either. Don’t send hostile Mike Zimmer to the podium. That would be the wrong thing to do. Put you tail between your legs and face the media yourself, Rick Spielman. Bring your apologetic tone. Bring the humility train. This is no time to stand prideful.

You can’t go around talking about how important late round picks are, like you have for your entire Vikings tenure, and then shrug off the 5th-rounder you threw into the trash when you brought Vedvik in and then cut him 2 weeks later. That’s not the way this works.

Bailey and Wile better be their best selves this season. If Bailey hits a couple of game winning kicks and Wile is putting punts into the coffin all season, nobody will care about the biggest preseason kicking failure in NFL history…. well, almost.

Well, it’s official and no longer even surprising, given all of the hints being dropped by Mike Zimmer and those in the media all week. Kaare Vedvik has been waived by the Minnesota Vikings. It’s  almost unbelievable given the organization just gave up a 5th round pick for him a couple of weeks ago… but then again, we are talking about kickers and the Minnesota Vikings in the same breaking news.

Go ahead and talk about how 5th round picks aren’t that big of a deal or that this is what pushed Bailey and Wile to become better but those are just excuses for more poor management at the kicker position from a franchise who is usually known for being smarter than other franchises…

But all we can do is look the other way now and hope kicks go through uprights so we can start talking about real football and not foots just hitting them.
