The Vikings Should Still Trade Everyone by Tuesday’s Deadline

The Minnesota Vikings somehow captured a victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday at Lambeau Field, bringing their record on the 2020 season to 2-5… By doing so, they showed us why they need to trade everyone by Tuesday’s trade deadline. They can’t afford anymore wins this season.
Zygi Wilf has a decision to make. Does he double down on the extensions he gave out this offseason, allowing Zimmer and the Vikings coaching staff to squeeze a few more wins out of Kirk Cousins and this 2020 Minnesota roster? Or, do the Wilfs remain focused on long-term goals and hit the reset button, despite what happened this weekend?
Moving some of your best pieces right after the season’s biggest win might seem like awkward timing, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t the right move.
Kirk Cousins Ain’t It…
The Vikings didn’t need Kirk Cousins to win them this game. Hell, they probably didn’t need him at all. That’s just the way they’ve come to like it. The less Kirk, the better.
I suppose Kirk Cousins can't throw any interceptions if the #Vikings just run it on every single play

When the season is over, Kirk will have earned $40 million between signing bonuses and season salary. This week, he earned that money by throwing the ball 14 times, completing 11 and hitting on one touchdown.
Sunday’s game went exactly to script and the Vikings defense played their best game of the season. 50 mph winds didn’t help the Packers’ cause on offense either. The less Kirk throws the ball, the better off Minnesota is. When you’re playing in a football league dominated by quarterbacks, that’s not a good thing.
If the Vikings organization has decided Kirk isn’t good enough (that should be a given at this point)… then Sunday’s victory shouldn’t matter. I like winning… but I like playing in the playoffs more. The number one priority for the Vikings should be finding a franchise QB. That starts with Tuesday’s trade deadline because at 2-5, there’s no miracle playoff run in Cousins’ future..
Blow it up anyway.
Imagine thinking beating the packers matters. Theyโll still be in the playoffs and weโll still be on the couch and in Kirk cousins purgatory. But hey at least we can talk shit to packers fans for one week. https://t.co/rVRflioYPy

I’ve had a lot of people tell me the Vikings aren’t capable of tanking… but that’s just not true. Harrison Smith is on a contract that’s expiring after next season and he’s in his 30’s. Same goes for Adam Thielen (minus the expiring contract part). Trade both at the deadline and send Anthony Harris and Riley Reiff out the door for draft picks too.
How many more games is this team going to win without any safeties in a young secondary and without their best offensive lineman? You just paid Dalvin Cook to be fat and happy too. Get him to 1000 yards and find a ghost injury to nurse the rest of the season.
I know these trade deadline moves seem drastic but they aren’t. They’re smart. I hate losing too… but if losing for one season will allow us to exchange Cousins for a Super Bowl upgrade, then it will all be worth it in the end.
Even after today’s win, the Minnesota Vikings sit in 27th place (out of 32). How badly do we want to contend for a Super Bowl because nothing comes without sacrifice and we’re already halfway home.
