The trade deadline is less than a week away, and the Minnesota Vikings‘ have already made it clear they are buyers. They’ve already acquired running back Cam Akers a couple weeks back and most recently added left tackle Cam Robinson.

Akers will likely ease the load for starting running back Aaron Jones. Robinson looks to be the starting left tackle for the remaining of the season with Christian Darrisaw placed on season ending IR. Although it may seem like they’re buyers, one national NFL insider said they could be sellers too.

NFL insider says Brian Asamoah II is a trade candidate

According to Jeremy Fowler (ESPN), 24-year-old inside linebacker Brian Asamoah — who the Vikings selected in the 3rd round of the infamous 2022 NFL Draft — is on the trade block, heading into the final 6 days before the NFL trade deadline on November 5.

Veteran Buffalo safety Mike Edwards is available and would like to go somewhere he can play (he has been a steady inactive). Washington’s Darrick Forrest is in a similar situation, a former starter who’s out of the rotation and could need a fresh start elsewhere. Vikings linebacker Brian Asamoah II, a former third-rounder who hasn’t made an impact in Brian Flores’ defense, is a trade candidate, too.

Asamoah II has been (essentially) non-existent, since being drafted… just like pretty much everyone else from Kwesi’s first draft. In 2.5 seasons, Asamoah II has played a grand total of 171 snaps. This season, he’s played just 14 .

It’s clear now that Brian Asamoah has fallen out of favor, with Brian Flores. This is the same guy who was first hyped up as the dream weapon for the Minnesota Vikings’ defensive coordinator, just two seasons ago. Since, he has been passed up by everyone picked up or drafted around him.

As of today, the remaining players on roster from the often discussed Vikings’ 2022 draft are G Ed Ingram (Rd2-P59), ILB Brian Asamoah (Rd3-P66), CB Akayleb Evans (Rd4-P118), RB Ty Chandler (Rd5-P169), WR Jalen Nailor (Rd6-P191) and TE Nick Muse (Rd7-P227). Those who have since departed include S Lewis Cine (Rd1-P32), CB Andrew Booth (Rd2-P42) and former Gopher Esezi Otomewo (Rd5-P165).

What’s Brian Asamoah II trade value?

Although Asamoah II was a former day two pick, who doesn’t see the field. Thus, the Minnesota Vikings are not going to get much back, in return. How much will they get? The Vikings will be lucky to fetch a future day-3 pick for Asamoah. Maybe a 7th-rounder? How about a conditional 7th…?

Given the Vikings have only three draft picks in 2025 (a third-round compensatory pick for Kirk Cousins is expected to be added later), any kind of draft capital for a guy like Brian Asamoah would be a big accomplishment. We’ll see how things unfold over these next few days. The trade deadline is Election Day (Tues, Nov 5) at 3PM CST.
