It’s always NFL season, even when it’s the offseason, and the Minnesota Vikings are out to prove that over the next few months, as they make franchise altering decisions on key roster pieces like Kirk Cousins, Justin Jefferson and Danielle Hunter.

But the Vikings are in a bit of a salary cap crunch. And with Cousins set to be a free agent, at least for now, he’s being rumored, predicted and courted to land elsewhere. One of the most popular destinations of choice, outside of Minnesota, is Atlanta. His wife is from there and they desperately need a good quarterback.

But that’s not all the Falcons need. They need a head coach too, and legendary former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick has been the leading candidate to land the job for over a week.

Kirk Cousins and Bill Belichick to Atlanta Falcons?

Well on Wednesday, NFL insider Jeremy Fowler (ESPN) took both storylines a bit further, predicting that both Cousins and Belichick will end up in Atlanta together, when the dust settles on this offseason,

The feeling out of New England was that Belichick planned to target an established veteran quarterback for the Patriots in 2024. If he gets the Atlanta job, as some expect, he can follow a similar blueprint.

Cousins very well might re-sign with Minnesota, but if not, the Falcons offer several high-end skill players on offense and an improving defense — they’re the proverbial quarterback away. “[Belichick] can help a talented yet underachieving team, and Atlanta is that,” an AFC executive said. “Cousins would be a great fit there.”

This isn’t the first time that a possible Kirk Cousins + Bill Belichick partnership in Atlanta has surfaced. Last week, Kirk was making his rounds with different media outlets to promote his sponsorship with Tostitos.

While making his rounds, Cousins was asked about how he would feel if an opportunity presented itself to play under Belichick. Cousins’ answer went viral.

“I’m not going to turn down an opportunity to play with a future Hall of Fame coach, but we’ll have to see where March leads. It’s just a lot of unknowns right now.”
