Key members of the Minnesota Vikings ownership group are in Orlando, FL this week for the NFL’s latest round of offseason ownership meetings, and it’s been an eventful few days that included the official announcement that Minneapolis will play host to the 2028 NFL Draft.

Another objective down in Florida this week was to informally speak with some of their nine reported candidates for the organization’s vacant general manager job. Early last week, the Wilfs — along with head coach Kevin O’Connell and COO Andrew Miller — met with each candidate virtually last week.

All eight external GM options currently hold assistant general manager titles with their current team.

Minnesota Vikings trim down GM candidate list

While Mark Wilf made it clear that in-person meetings down in Florida were not part of the formal interview process, it appears he, his family and the rest of Minnesota’s GM search party has enough of a handle on their list of candidates to slash it nearly in half.

According to NFL insider Jonathan Jones (CBS Sports), the final five general manager candidates remaining are Rob Brzezinski, Reed Burckhardt (Broncos), Terrance Gray (Bills), John McKay (Rams) and Nolan Teasley (Seahawks).

Candidates who did not make the cut include Ray Agnew (Lions), RJ Gillen (49ers), Kyle Smith (Dolphins) and the only candidate with prior GM experience, Dave Ziegler (Titans). As reported last week, Chargers assistant GM, Chad Alexander turned down his invitation to interview.

Unsurprisingly, the five of the remaining candidates — which are expected to formally interview in-person at TCO Performance Center in Eagan, before the Minnesota Vikings either name their new GM or slim the list down even further.
