Adam Thielen Out For Season After Ankle Surgery
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen gave up on trying to play through the pain in his injured ankle on Tuesday, per Chad Graff (The Athletic), opting for surgery that will sideline him for the rest of the 2021 season and any playoff games his team might play in.
Adam tried to give his ankle a go on Sunday but didn’t look right from the start. He caught 3 passes 40 yards but exited the game early, after being tackled low.

Stats and Contract Status
Adam Thielen finishes this season with 726 yards and 10 touchdowns on 67 receptions. He’s adjusted nicely into Kirk’s best red zone option and overall #2 receiving threat opposite of budding superstar, Justin Jefferson. This year will mark the 3rd straight season in which #19 failed to reach 1000 yards receiving. On the contrary, it was also his 2nd-straight season with over 10 touchdowns.
These numbers will come into play this offseason and beyond. Thielen’s cap hit is set to balloon from $6 million to $16 million (Spotrac.com) in 2022. His isn’t the only one. Cutting Adam isn’t really on the table, though, given his $11 million cap penalty if the Minnesota Vikings were to exercise such a move.
