Vikings to Announce Kevin O’Connell as New Head Coach Thursday
Sean McVay has been publicly teetering on whether or not he will continue as head coach of the Los Angeles Rams next season. Naturally, that has led many Minnesota Vikings fans to hit the panic button on Kevin O’Connell. Would he pull out of the Vikings head coaching job, in favor of being McVay’s successor in LA?
No, he reportedly will not. According to Adam Schefter (ESPN), the Vikings will announce O’Connell as their new head coach on Thursday.

Spiral of Panic
Someone inside the Minnesota Vikings organization or, possibly, someone close to Kevin O’Connell must have tapped on Schefter for this tweet. And for good reason. The downward spiral that was happening all over the internet was quickly getting out of control.
Mike Florio (PFT) really fanned the flames this morning when he, first, discussed it on his morning radio/TV show and then blogged about it at ProFootballTalk.com. There was no sourcing or noise he was reporting. Just pure speculation. But his fodder was more than enough to throw Vikings fans off the cliffs of panic.
Hopefully we can all move on now. But if I know anything about this fanbase, nobody will feel comfortable until Kevin O’Connell is walking off the plane at MSP Airport.
