Twins POWER through Padres in Game 1 of 2:
It was one of those games early and often for the Twins. One of those games where the bats are smoldering before anyone enters the box. It is pretty fun to watch this team when they get on streaks like this. It didn’t take long. Just 3 pitches. Let’s watch:
The Twins almost tied the team record of 8 home runs but were only able to put up 7. However, they did hit home runs in the first 7 innings, which is a new MLB record. Hopefully the Twins saved some runs for Wednesday. Tuesday was just one of those nights. The Angels are in the 5th inning, as I type, and losing to the Astros. Keep your fingers crossed. A 2 games lead sounds so much safer than 1.
Wednesday will pit Ervin Santana against Dinelson Lamet (7-7, 4.32 ERA). Thursday, the Blue Jays will come to town for a 4-game set. There are only 18 games left…
We May See Miguel Sano Soon:
It looks like we are about to see our big man back in the lineup sooner, rather than later. Hopefully the twins lineup can be even more powerful… Here is Brandon Warne (Who is now the newest writer at The Athletic):
Miguel Sano took early BP today. Will not run but plans to again tomorrow. He’s seeing Dr. Steubs — team physician — tonight.

Lavelle Neal has a pretty in-depth scoop here:
“But I do expect to see Sano in a game sometime before the weekend is over. Barring any setbacks.” – LaVelle Neal III

Demry Croft excused from Gopher Football Team Disciplinary Issues:
This developed late today and in very interesting fashion. Last night Conor Rhoda was named the Gophers’ starting quarterback. By the time most people were out of work this afternoon, Demry Croft was being excused from the team for this weekend’s game vs Middle Tennessee State University.
When the news first dropped, the reasoning for his absence was being called “personal reasons away from football”. However, by late afternoon, it was becoming clear it may be more disciplinary than originally led on. We still don’t know what happened with Croft. But I have a feeling we may find out eventually.
Randy Johnson, of the Star Tribune, is reporting that Redshirt Freshman, and Minnesota Native, Seth Greene will take over the backup role on Saturday.

Vegas Not Giving Vikings ANY Love vs Steelers:
After blowing out the Saints in the season opener on Monday Night Football, Vegas is NOT impressed with the Vikings. Mike Zimmer won’t even have to slit the throats of any stuffed animals to motivate the team with all this bulletin board material.

Shabazz Muhammad is Back with Timberwolves:
The roster is starting to take shape for the Wolves as they inch closer to training camp. Shabazz Muhammad looks to be heading back with his old team and we are happy to have him back. Some aren’t all that happy to see Shabazz back but he is much better than most players signing for minimum contracts. It looks like the team is still really pushing to bring Daunte Cunningham in on the same type of deal. He would fall into the same category as Shabazz, in that he is great bang for your buck at the minimum contract.
It is pretty cool to see guys taking pay cuts to play with the Wolves. It is quite the change of pace. And a welcome one at that.
