Bovada Makes Byron Buxton a Top-3 AL MVP Favorite

It’s been one hell of a season so far for Byron Buxton. On Monday, he won AL Player of the Month for April and he’s currently leading the Minnesota Twins in just about every hitting and defensive category. He’s playing centerfield as well as the one mythical player he was comp’d to while in the minors, Mike Trout.
Speaking of Mike Trout, did you know he’s leading the AL MVP race (+200), according to the well-known gambling website, Bovada.com? The only two players within shouting distance of the Angels centerfielder are his teammate, Shoehei Ohtani (+700), who pitches and hits for the Angels, and our very own Byron Buxton (+800). Everyone else is +1000 or worse.

Trout and Buxton have had nearly identical seasons so far. The numbers are scary but we know Mike can hold the line for an entire season while we aren’t even sure Byron can stay on the field that long. Ohtani is strictly included because of his unique ability to take the bump and dig into the box. Still, he’ll have to be great in both or ELITE at one, if he’s going to stay in the race all season.
