Miguel Sano Pitched for the Angels Today and it Went Unrealistically Well
The Minnesota Twins moved on from Miguel Sano after the the 2022 Major League Baseball season, after his latest disappointment of a summer. But, after one season away from America’s past time, Sano is back in the big leagues, this time with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (or whatever they are called now).
His start to the season has been rather impressive, too, from the lens of what we’ve seen out of Miguel since the last time he wore a Twins uniform. He’s played in five games as an Angel, batting .267 (entering Sunday) with a .821 OPS and 144 OPS+ and just 6 strikeouts.

But today, we aren’t bringing you a Miguel Sano article because of his exploits at the plate. No, no, no… on Sunday, our favorite former top-5 MLB prospect bust is hitting your news feeds because of the way he pitched. That’s right, Miguel Sano was summoned by the Angels manager from the bullpen the dugout (was DH) with two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the 9th inning.
It took three pitches, two fastballs changeups and one hanging breaking ball, for Sano to get Boston Red Sox leadoff hitter Jarren Duran (who was batting .349 on the season entering today) to bounce into an easy unassisted third out at 2nd base.

I’m not sure Miguel has a future on the mound, but many thought he didn’t have a future in the MLB at all, following the 2022 season. Yet… here we are.
