Minnesota Twins vs Houston Astros Wild Card Series Schedule

The Minnesota Twins and Houston Astros will start their American League Wildcard Series on Tuesday afternoon at 1 PM CT. If you were hoping for primetime night slots for these games, then you shouldn’t have tried to avoid the Yankees. It will be a day-game schedule, at least for the first two. As long as they end in Twins victories, nobody cares.

The starting pitchers for the Twins will be Kenta Maeda vs Zack Greinke (I deep dive Tuesday’s pitching matchup here) in Game 1, Jose Berrios vs Jose Urquidy in game 2 and (if necessary) Michael Pineda vs Lance McCullers in game 3 (via Star Tribune).

The Astros options for Wednesday’s game two would be right-hander Jose Urquidy, who would start on normal rest, or lefty Framber Valdez, who would be going eight days between starts.

We got an idea and a plan,” Baker said. “We just don’t want to say yet because if we change our minds, you’re gonna ask me ‘How come?’, so I’d rather not go into that until we put our heads together and until we see who we’re playing.”

How Good is the Twins’ Rotation?

If you want to see how good this year’s playoff rotation is to those of Minnesota Twins’ past, you should read this great article by Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. At least, I was.
