NBA Sends COVID-19 Memo to All Teams: Prepare to Play in Empty Arenas
Sources: The NBA has sent a memo to its franchises explaining that, due to coronavirus outbreak, teams should be preparing to play games without fans in attendance and identifying “essential staff” present for these games — should it be necessary.

The Corona Virus (COVID-19) has everyone on high alert. Someone in Minnesota was just diagnosed and has apparently been strutting around infecting people since February 25…
Minnesota seems to be one of the last places it has hit, however. The West and East Coast are shutting things down and seeing the spread at a much more rapid speed.
Now, the NBA is preparing to take action. According to Shams’ tweet above, they are telling teams to prepare for games to played in empty arenas, where only “essential staff” will be present.
This might not be the last time we see these types of precautions threatened or carried out. With major sporting events taking place all over the country (including March Madness), not to mention what is happening abroad (including the coming summer Olympic Games in Tokyo), we could see teams playing in empty stadiums on the regular, especially if a major league like the NBA takes such precautions.
Let’s not panic in the streets quite yet… especially if you are healthy and not elderly. We will still have toilet paper for a few more days, so just go back to the store tomorrow. No fighting.
