MSF Daily – 7/30/17

Glen Taylor puts the brakes on Wiggins Trade:

Sid Hartman sat down with Glen Taylor who told him that Wiggins is untouchable and they are in the process of signing him to an extension now.

It is just crazy to me how Sid Hartman is still breaking news stories.

Xavier Rhodes closing in on long term deal:

The Vikings are reportedly ready to sign Rhodes to a 5 year/$70 Million contract. That will make him among the highest paid CB’s in the NFL. Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press also is reporting that the Vikings are in talks with some other players too. Chris did not mention Sam Bradford. http://wp.me/p8zQ5N-yC

Falvey and Levine have decide Twins will be sellers at the deadline:

The Twins’ front office made a strategic decision today, Chris Cotello of MLB Daily Dish is reporting.

Nobody hoped for this to happen, but after a disappointing week, I don’t think they have any other choice. The going rate for pitchers right now is just too good to pass up. We will be watching closely and writing about any moves that go down.

Twins playing late again tonight in Oakland:

The Twins are playing a little earlier tonight on the west coast. They started at 8:10 CT and are currently in the 3rd inning. Mejia started the game and has looked pretty good although he had to work out of a bases loaded jam in the 2nd. They lead 2-1.

The Twins would end up leading 4-1 after a Sano opposite-field home run in the top of the 5th. The A’s would score 1 that inning too.

Fast-forward to the bottom of the 8th: Buddy Boshers got the 8th inning. He gave up a bomb to make it 4-3. Taylor Rogers came in to get the last out. He would also get the 9th inning since Kitzler was used up the night before. Rogers would walk Rosales and then give up a walk-off bomb to Rajai Davis to pull the rug from under the Twins. Here is the game recap from Twins Daily.

So, this will push the Twins even further into sell mode. It has just broken this morning that the Twins have already made a trade for minor league pitcher, Zack Littell, who will start in Double A and Dietrich Enns who doesn’t seem to have the upside but is farther along and will start in Triple A. Here is the full trade breakdown from Twins Daily.

Jeremy Nygaard from Twins Daily likes the trade:

There will be MUCH MUCH MUCH more to pay attention to today with the Trade Deadline looming and the Twins likely going into full-sell mode.
