We are in the midst of the scariest part of the NFL offseason, for Minnesota Vikings coaches, owners and executives. Same goes for those in leadership positions across the rest of the league.

Why? Because it’s the dreaded 5-6 week break between NFL minicamp and training camp. It’s the middle of the summer, humans like to have fun and do dumb things in the summer. Fourth of July is coming up, a notorious holiday for Monday morning injury/arrest news across the league (more on that momentarily).

Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson walking runways overseas

If distance makes coaches more nervous, then you might think Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell is huddled in a corner with his blanket with Justin Jefferson across the pond in France for Paris Fashion Week, where he could be spotted walking the streets… and the runway with his college QB buddy, Joe Burrow.

But of course, that’s not the case. KOC has nothing to worry about, when it comes to Justin Jefferson. The newly minted highest-paid non-QB in the league isn’t about to screw up what he has worked so hard for.

I can’t say I 100% agree with these fashion choices, though. Then again, I’m not the target audience they are trying to reach. In fact, I couldn’t even tell you what target audience they are aiming for. Who is in the market for an open-back tuxedo, who did that to Joe Burrow?

The runway duet, along with the interesting fits, were part of a shoot the two football stars did with Vogue, as part of the fashion week festivities happening in Paris, just before the Olympics are set to kick off next month from the same city. This was Jefferson’s first fashion show, but he seems intrigued by the idea of doing more stuff just like it.

Justin Jefferson wants to be about “more than just football”

JJ told Vogue that he wants to be known for more than football, a renaissance man so to speak. That’s fine by all Minnesota Vikings fans, both domestic and abroad, as long as he continues to destroy the hopes and dreams of opposing defensive backs in the process.

“The lobster and shrimp at L’Avenue is fiiire,” says Jefferson, who is visiting the City of Light for the first time. “There’s a lot of traffic, and the way people drive is kinda crazy, but it’s a great city,” he says, adding that he hopes to be known “as more than just a football player” and was partial to the Amiri show. “I wear Amiri a lot. It’s my style—relaxed and chill.”

Back in football land, at facilities like TCO Performance Center, starting rosters have mostly set. Teams can’t afford to have key players suddenly dropping from the active roster due to, let’s say, a runway incident… or (for players not named Justin Jefferson) maybe a drunk fall down the stairs on Fourth of July?

No Viking has ever hurt themselves trying to in a door while intoxicated, right? This time of year, domestic disturbances or DWI arrests tend to increase significantly across the NFL. Injuries or league punishments have the opportunity to devastate the hopes of every team, if it happens to the the wrong player.

The good free agents are picked through, the draft is over, gameplans are being installed. Yet every summer over the next 3 weeks, we will get a litany of news reports regarding well-known players who lose their football availability due to an off-field incident.

So let’s just all pray that Justin gets back onto solid, American ground in one full, untampered piece so he can get back to doing what he does best, catching passes and making huge plays for the Minnesota Vikings offense.
