Mo Ibrahim Helps MN Gophers Land New RB Commit

Throughout the course of college football history, the Minnesota Gophers program has been known for its ability to find and development talented running backs.
You can go all the way back to Bronko Nagurski, if you want, but more recent examples include Darrell Thompson, Laurence Maroney, multiple members of the Barber Family Tree.
But the leader among them all is Mohamed Ibrahim, with 4,668 rushing yards and 53 rushing touchdowns, both school records for a career. And after a short stint at Kent State, Ibrahim returned to Dinkytown this offseason as the Gophers’ new running backs coach.
2027 running back Greg Hargrow commits to Minnesota Gophers
Leading Minnesota’s group of running backs in 2026 will be Darius Taylor, yet again who’s entering his senior season. From there, the Gophers have a few guys battling for RB2 reps, after talented young back, Fame Ijeboi decided to transfer.
On Thursday, however, Minnesota’s future at the position got a little bit brighter when 2027 Rosa Fort (MS) running back Greg Hargrow verbally committed. Previously, Hargrow was committed to Kent State. Once Ibrahim jumped back into PJ Fleck’s boat, all Hargrow needed to row with him was an offer.

Hargrow is the Minnesota Gophers’ third commitment of the 2027 class, and the first since June. Obviously, Mo sees something in this kid and believes he can hack it at the division one level, despite his offer list of Arkansas State, Kent State, Liberty, and New Mexico State being rather underwhelming.
As an all-purpose running back, Hargrow sees himself being able to contribute beyond the traditional ground game. As a junior at Rosa Fort, Hargrow ran for 1,294 yards and 22 touchdowns, helping lead his team to the 2025 Mississippi State Championship, which they lost.
His highlight reel is certainly impressive enough. We’ll see if his talent can eventually translate onto a power-four football program.
