MN’s Top 2022 High School Athlete is on Campus to Unofficially Visit with Two Gopher Coaches Tuesday
Well, the recruiting dead period is officially over and that means prospective division I college athletes are free to roam college campuses who are inviting them in for a visit. As expected, Minnesota Gophers head football coach PJ Fleck is wasting no time in getting kids to the U of M campus and will host multiple visitors today. His guest list has one little twist in it, though. In a tag-team effort with new head basketball coach, Ben Johnson, Cretin Derham Hall point guard and defensive back, Tre Holloman, will be on campus today.
The news of Tre’s visit first came last night via the GopherIllustrated.com “Gopher Report” chat board by 247Sports MN recruiting insider, Ryan James ($$$). Then earlier this morning, Holloman was included on a list of Gopher football recruits posted by national recruiting insider, Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports (free).
Tre Holloman will be a senior next school year and he’s arguably the top basketball prospect for the local 2022 class. But the all-state point guard is also one hell of a cornerback when he takes to the football field in the fall.

Tre Holloman will be on campus tomorrow for an unofficial visit. He will be going by to see Ben Johnson and the Basketball staff as well as seeing the football staff too. Heard there may be something Wednesday as well but visitor number one for Ben Johnson, is Tre Holloman.

The NCAA dead period dating back to March 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic is finally lifted and Tuesday marks the first day recruits can come to a respective campus. The Gophers have a few coming out there way.
The No. 2 prospect in the state in cornerback Tre Holloman, who is also a Top247 basketball recruit will make the short drive over.

Is football really an option?
I’m not Ryan James and I would have no idea what Tre is thinking on this subject but I would be shocked if he flipped on basketball and took to football for his collegiate athletic career. The chances of getting to the NBA as a top basketball recruit is much higher than the odds of doing it in football.
Could he play both? He probably won’t… but we can certainly dream about it.
