Gopher Basketball Receiving Top-25 Votes?
Still no trust in Richard Pitino and his Gopher Basketball team after their 3-0 start? Well, after beating both Utah and Texas A&M last week, they seem to be getting some love around the NCAA coaching circles..
When opening the new top-25 ratings that came out today, you may have noticed. But, if you forgot to squint or bring your reading glasses you may have missed it. Go beyond the AP Poll and over to the Coaches Poll. Scroll down passed all of the ranked teams and zoom in under “Those receiving votes”. Go all the way to the bottom of those teams and there you will see it. The big “M” receiving a full 3 votes.
3 coaches thought the Gophers should be in the top-25. Breathe it in…
How does the Drake song go?
“We started at the bottom, now we’re here. We started at the bottom, now we’re getting top-25 votes mother fucker”.
Nailed it.
Before the next set of rankings come out next week, the Gophers will play two more games. The first is against Santa Clara on Tuesday night and the second is the following night vs Washington.
Santa Clara is 0-3 and obviously not good. Honestly, I haven’t even checked into them but when you’re college is “Santa Clara” and you are 0-3… things can’t be going that well.
However, once we take care of business on Tuesday, the Washington matchup is no joke. Until today, Washington was ranked in the top-25. Their only loss is to Auburn, who is now ranked 11th nationally (yes, we are still talking basketball… it’s the Kentucky effect for SEC basketball taking place). The Huskies are still receiving 16 votes for the coaches poll top-25. Votes that could be ours.
If Pitino and Co. can win the Vancouver Tip-off (by beating SC and Wash.), or whatever it’s called, then we might be knocking down the doors in the polls, before taking on Boston College in the ACC-B1G Challenge next Monday.
Since all of the other teams in this state suck, both collegiately and professionally, we might as well ride the Gopher Basketball Train as far as it’ll take us. If the team wants wins half as much as Jarvis Omersa wanted this rebound vs Texas A&M on Sunday night, we should be just fine…
