Eddie Rosario Stabbing Devers at the Plate Had Us Feeling October Last Night

It’s only September 6 but Eddie Rosario gave me October goosebumps last night. The game had playoffs written all over it. Martin Perez suddenly remembered how to pitch and dominated for his six innings, giving up just 2 hits and 1 run. He was nearly matched inning for inning by something named Nathan Eovaldi, who went 5 great innings… The bullpens had both taken over by the 7th and it was feeling more and like October as the innings went by. You could actually see the trees turning colors.

In the bottom of the 9th inning with 2 outs already on the board and the Twins leading 2-1, JD Martinez came to the plate with Rafael Devers on 1st base and Taylor Rogers on the mound. He then proceeded to do what JD Martinez does… and hit a double off of the green monster in left field.

At this point, I’m about 7 expletives away from throwing my remote through my TV and Twitter-screaming at Rocco Baldelli for his management of Taylor Rogers…

But then, they started lining up the play at the plate and I (along with all of Twins nation) was grasping to a sudden moment of hope… When Eddie caught that ball off of the wall, I could have sworn I heard…

What a moment and what a night… Throw in an Indians loss, earlier in the day, and a regular season game between the Packers and Bears that immediately moved the Vikings to the top of the bet sheet in Vegas…. and Minnesota sports fans went to sleep with smiles on their faces last night.

It was a good day. Now bring on Cleveland so we can bury these mother fuckers.
