BREAKING: Vikings Finally Come to Terms with Dalvin Cook on Contract Extension

The Minnesota Vikings have signed star running back, Dalvin Cook, to a 5-year, $63 million contract extension. Over $28 million of that money will be guaranteed.

In three seasons, Cook has racked up just over 2000 yards and 17 touchdowns. In 2019, he rushed for 1135 yards and 13 of his career TD’s. His mostly unblemished 2019 was enough to show the Vikings that he can stay on the field and earn a big time running back contract.

Just Stay Healthy

Cook deserves it…. when he is on the field. There’s no doubting how talented and how much of a game-breaker he can be… or how much the Vikings need him in their offense. That’s why he wants big money. On the other hand, the team doesn’t have any money left under the salary cap and Dalvin has had issues staying on the field.

Cook locks up his cash after playing just 29 games in his first three seasons. It’s a risk, but it was one the Vikings were always going to take. We all hope it’s worth it.

Speaking of risk, this is a big deal for Dalvin Cook. The opportunity for an injury, had he stepped on the field to take hits tomorrow vs the Green Bay Packers, was a risk that may not have been worth the squeeze…

None of that matters now, though! Dalvin Cook will be a Minnesota Viking for the foreseeable future! In due time, we’ll see how magic man, Rob Brzezinski, made this happen financially. For now, though… we celebrate.
